Objective: Create an easy, hands-free way to transport the essential gear to go freshwater fishing.
My Story
When I was 15 I learned how to fish while on vacation with my family. From that day forward I always loved to go fishing, most of my summers throughout high school here spent fishing at Lake Cochichewick in my hometown.
The Problem
Throughout high school, I worked part-time at my local Burger King and didn’t have steady access to a car. This made fishing really difficult because on many occasions I had to walk to the lake in order to go. This made small trips before going to work impossible because of the walk and the amount of gear I needed to bring.

Create a compact, handsfree, and easy way to carry the essential gear in order to freshwater fish.
The Essential Gear
Over the past 6 years, I’ve realized that a majority of the gear that I was bringing fishing was unnecessary. So decided to boil down the gear to the bare basics that you need to go fishing, and that is what the product needed to be able to hold
Design Exploration
I explored a variety of wearable tackle bag options. and at the end of each round of exploration, I continued to return to a collapsable drawstring-styled bag.
I expanded on the drawstring/bindle, style of bag, coming up with three distinct concepts to model.
StarFish
StarFish is a fishing bag designed to carry all of the essential gear needed to fresh water fish. The bag is made from a 100% cotton waxed canvas and reflective materials. This allows it to be be eco-friendly and more visible in the dark.
